Permanent Watering Schedule

The City of West Sacramento has a permanent watering schedule (effective June 10th, 2022; Municipal Code 13.04.790). This schedule will help the city conserve water, while allowing residents sufficient time to keep their landscapes healthy across the seasons. Please see below for specific days, times and exemptions.

Watering Days

• Odd Addresses: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
• Even Addresses: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday

Watering Window

• No irrigation between 10:00am and 7:00pm

Exemptions

• Drip irrigation
• Container plants
• New landscaping
• Recreational areas

It can be intimidating to change your sprinkler timer! Please read over the following tips, and look below to see if there is a step-by-step guide for your specific model.

• To change the days: most timers have a large round dial in the middle. Turn the dial to each day, and then use the "+" or "-" button to add or remove a day. That's it!
• To change the time: turn the dial to the first "start": use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the time so that it lands between 7:00pm and 10:00am.
• Always check each "start" section to make sure you do not have more start times than you intend. 
• Always check the "programs" button to see if you have anything scheduled for the "B" or "C" or "D" programs.

Look for your specific sprinkler timer model, or one that looks like it, for directions on how to change the days and times.

RAIN BIRD ESP-6TM

To change the days: turn the dial to each day, and then use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove the day from your schedule. To change the times: turn the dial to the "program start times" section, then use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the time. If you want to remove a start time, change it to 12:00am.

IRRITROL SLIMDIAL

To change the days: turn the dial to "water days", then use the arrow button to move to each day (which you can see on the screen). Use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove a day. If the day has a small black dash, that means that day will water. To change the times: turn the dial to "start time", then used the arrow button to move through each start time (which you can see on the left-hand side of the screen). Use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the times. If you want to turn off a start time, change the time to 12:00am and it will turn off.   

RAIN BIRD ESP-MODULAR

To change the days: turn the dial to each day, and then use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove the day from your schedule. To change the times: turn the dial to the "program start times" section, then use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the time. If you want to remove a start time, change it to 12:00am.

RAIN BIRD SST

To change the days: turn the dial to a "zone" (a zone is a section of your landscape), then tap on each day button you desire for that zone. If the light it green, it will water on that day. Do this for each zone. To change the times: turn the dial to a "zone", then use the up and down buttons to set when that zone will turn on. Do this for each zone.

ORBIT EASY DIAL

To change the days: turn the dial to "how often", then use the "<" and ">" arrows to move between the days, and use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove days. To change the times: turn the dial to "start time", then use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the time. You can clear the time by tapping "clear" on the left.

HUNTER X-CORE

To change the days: turn the dial to "water days", then use the "<" and ">" arrows to move between the days. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove days. To change the times: turn the dial to "start times", then use the "<" and ">" buttons to move between the start times. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to change the times. Change the time to 12:00am to remove a start time.

HUNTER EC

To change the days: turn the dial to "water days" then use the arrow button to move between days. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove days. To change the times: turn the dial to "start times" then use the arrow button to move between the times. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the desired time. Change the start time to 12:00am to remove it.

IRRITROL RD-600

First, move the slider on the button to "set programs". To change the days: turn the dial to a specific day, then use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove a day. To change the times: turn the dial to one of the start times, then use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the time. Set it to 12:00am to remove a time. After you have finished making changes, move the slider back to "run or manual".

ORBIT 6 STATION

To change the days: turn the dial to "day of the week", then use the "next" arrow to move between the days. To add or remove a day, use the "+" and "-" buttons. If there is a little triangle under the day in the screen, that day will be set to water. To change the times: turn the dial to "cycle start times", then use the "next" arrow to move between the starts. Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the time. To remove a start time, use the "clear" button.
